Solwezi, 18 June, 2019, ZANIS--- The Cycling Association of Zambia (CAZ) says citizens should consider active participation in the sport as it opens up opportunities for improved livelihoods.

ZANIS sports reports CAZ president, Peter Chintu saying that his association is for this reason using cycling sport as a tool to improve livelihoods through employment and educational scholarships.

Chintu said although cyclists are usually sponsored by different organisations and individuals, they can also be employed as international trainers, while those in schools can be awarded scholarships.

He is however, appealing to government to add at least five meters from the yellow line on the roads for cyclists as traffic is a challenge for the cyclists.

Chintu said this during the mine to mine cycling race held in Kalumbila on Sunday 16 June, 2019.

Meanwhile, Kansanshi mining PLC corporate social responsibilities coordinator, Victor Nsana appealed to the cyclists to train more in preparations for the 2020 Olympics tournament.

Nsana expressed pleasure that more cyclists participated in this year's cycling race.

Jason Meaton was overall champion of the 145 kilometers race, for the senior category, seconded followed by Bernard Saulombi.

On the other hand, Ray Keane won the master category.
