Ndola, July 17, 2019, ZANIS---Ndola City Council (NCC) has warned liquor businesses to ensure that they operate their premises within the prescribed hours.

And the local authority has warned that it will be taking necessary action against any premises dealing in alcohol that will be found operating beyond the permitted hours.

NCC Public Relations Manager, Tilyenji Mwanza said the Local Authority has noted that a lot of, bars, night clubs and various liquor trading premises have been operating against the permitted hours.

"We have noticed a deliberate flute of the Statutory Instrument No. 64 of 2012, of the Licensing Act, No.20 of 2011 on permitted hours of operation especially by the ‘big’ night clubs and bars operating in the Central Business District and at Malls who operate way beyond the stipulated time," Ms Mwanza said.

She said NCC is enforcing the Liquor Licensing Act, No. 20 of 2011 on permitted hours of operation and the council has issued notices to all liquor premises especially those who expressed ignorance towards the law as a reminder.

She further informed alcoholic business houses to operate according to the stipulated hours to avoid inconvenience or the revocation of license.

She has since advised that those that wish to operate beyond the stipulated hours should notify the council and apply for an extension.

The permitted trading hours for liquor traders is 10:00hours to 22:00hours and night clubs is 10:00hours to 24:00hours while wholesale liquor traders is 08:00hours to 18:00 hours.
