Senanga, June 18, 2019, ZANIS--- A critical water shortage has hit some parts of Senanga district stretching over four days now.

The affected areas, which include Boma, Mulamba compound, Airport area, Prisons and Nasitondo areas started last week on Wednesday night causing community members to access water from the Zambezi River.

An affected resident Nalukui Mukumbuta said some areas have continued to face water interruptions on a weekly basis and the utility company has not been giving proper communication on when water will be restored.

But Western Water and Sewerage Company Acting Public Relations Officer Theresa Mubonda said the water eruption was caused by a pipe burst in the township area which happened at CB Guest house and works have so far been done.

Ms Mubonda further stated that water is expected to be back today as they have rectified the problem and are already pumping the commodity and residents will receive the water.

Meanwhile, Senanga Town Council planner, Shala Mushala said the pipes which had a burst were under one of the construction building of CB Guest house in the township area and the council was engaged by the utility company to intervene as the owners of the guest house were resisting to dig on their building.

Mr Mushala has urged residents to seek guidance from Senanga Town council before any construction works are done to avoid such future occurrences.
