The United Party for National Development -UPND has won Kamilende ward by-elections in Lukulu district in Western province.

UPND’s Nalumino Nalumino polled 494 votes while Patriotic Front-PF’s Patrick Mubiana came second polling 308 votes.

Kamilende ward Retuning Officer Derrick Kanyamba made the announcement and declared Nalumino winner at 22:30 hours at the totalling centre at Kaluwawa Primary School.

812 out of 1, 446 registered voters in Kamilende cast their votes while 10 ballot papers were rejected.

And Mr Kanyamba told ZANIS in an interview that the ward experienced a good voter turnout.
