Shibuyunji, July 17, 2019, ZANIS ---   Shibuyunji District Jairo Simukoko warns investors in Shibuyunji IN Lusaka province over noncompliance of Labour laws.

Mr Simukoko says this is because government shall not under any circumstances tolerate violations of workers’ rights.

The District Commissioner said this after he inspected Shanta Sugar Estates also known as ETG operating in the District.

Speaking after inspecting, Mr Simukoko says the company has been found without employment contract, non - remittance of statutory contributions such NAPSA as well as Workers’ compensation.

He says he is disappointed to find that the company is paying its employees below the revised minimum wage.

Accompanied by Labour Officers, Mr Simukoko, added that it is sad to note that the employees have been casual workers for more than four years.

"The investors has not also fulfilled any of their social corporate responsibility which they pledged when setting up the company”, he states.

He however, says government will not spare such ignorance portrayed by the investor at the expense of the people of Shibuyunji District.

He has since given Shanta sugar estates a seven days ultimatum to improve on the working conditions or they will face serious consequences.
