Mongu, May 16, 2019, ZANIS---Former Lealui ward councilor Shalala Simushi has supported the resolution made by the just ended National Dialogue Forum (NDF) stating that civil servants should resign two years before joining politics.

ZANIS reports that Mr Simushi said the resolution will prevent divided loyalties on the part of civil servants, as most public service workers who engage in active politics while still in the civil service do not dedicate their time fully to their duties.

He said this will also prevent among other workers such as the District Commissioners from using their positions to campaign for themselves.

Delegates at the National Dialogue Forum resolved among other issues that civil servants wishing to join politics must first resign and wait for two years before getting into active partisan  politics or contesting any election.
