Chinsali, October 16, 2019, ZANIS ---The High Court sitting in Chinsali District of Muchinga Province has found a 15 year old Nakonde juvenile with a case to answer in two counts.

In his ruling at the close of the prosecution led by State advocates Obert Siankanga and Dickson Mbao, respectively,  Kabwe High Court Judge in charge Kelvin Limbani, said the court had established a prima facie case against the juvenile on both counts and put him on defence.

This is in a matter in which a 15 year  old Nakonde juvenile is facing one count of murder contrary to section 200 of the Penal Code chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

Facts of offence is  that the named juvenile on 10th day of September 2017 at Nakonde in Nakonde district of Muchinga Province of the republic of Zambia, did murder one Elizabeth Namundi.

In the second count, the named juvenile is charged with one count of aggravated robbery contrary to section 294 (2) (b) of the penal code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

Statement of offence is that on 10th day of September 2017 at Nakonde in Nakonde district of Muchinga Province of the republic of Zambia, the juvenile did steal one cell phone  assorted kitchen utensils, two blankets, one pillow case , three by 50 kg of maize grains all valued at K2,185.00 property of Elizabeth Namundi.

The defence team comprising Manda Kapisha and Kasenga Chisala of the Legal Aid Board were by press time scheduled to open defence for the juvenile.

The juvenile has opted to give a sworn statement and will call no witness.

And in the same court , two Mafinga men jointly charged with one count of murder contrary to section 200 of the Penal Code chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia, have been found with a case to answer.

The duo represented by defence lawyers Manda Kapisha and Kasenga Chisala of the Legal Aid Board will open their defense on October 21.

They opted to remain silent during defence.
