Ndola, August 23, 2019, ZANIS ----------The Court of Appeal has reserved delivery of judgment for acting Chief Tafuna, Rapheal Chipampe of Mpulungu district and six of his subjects' appeal against a conviction and death sentence for murder.

ZANIS reports that the case had come up for hearing before a panel of judges led by deputy president - court of appeals Justice Chalwe Mchenga who was sitting with justice Florence Lengalenga and Mubanga Kondolo.

Sitting at the Ndola High court, Justice Mchenga told the parties that judgement had been reserved for September 2019 trail session which will be held in Lusaka.

The appellants which include Chipampe, Clement Yambayamba, Israel Sikazwe, Anold Kaite, Mathews Chabala, Anita Namwinga and Maureen Namwinga informed the court that they will rely on earlier submission on grounds of appeal.

In March, 2018 Ndola High Court judge Yvonne Chembe sentenced five men and two women to death by hanging for murdering Senior Chief Tafuna following a succession dispute.

The court further sentenced the seven appellants to 20 years imprisonment for attempted murder.
