Mwense, December 6, 2019, ZANIS … Luapula province Local Government Officer, Chibuye Ndoba, has implored councilors and Mwense town council management to work as a team in providing services to the community.

Speaking during the 13th ordinary council meeting held in the council chamber yesterday, Mr Ndoba said councilors and management should work together and ensure that they operate in line with the Local government act.

“In order to achieve the vision 2030 of Zambia becoming a prosperous middle income country, the local authority should implement the activities in line with the Seventh National Development Plan, “he said.

The Provincial Local Government Officer said the District is earmarked for a number of infrastructure development and that once implemented the town council will no longer be the same in terms of revenue.

Mr Ndoba added that plans are underway to make the town council a planning authority and advised both management and councilors to put its house in order.

And when presenting her report to the 13th ordinary council meeting, town council secretary, Betty Liswaniso, said the local authority has prudently used the 20 percent equalization grant for capital projects.

Ms Liswaniso said so far, the council has purchased a tipper tuck, a utility Vehicle, rehabilitation of Natwange bar among other projects.

She said the local authority has proposed to use the 20 percent equalization grant for 2020 to install the solar street lights, paving of the civic entre and construction of one residential house for rent.

Other projects will include construction of a bus shelter at Kalanga market, construction of chalets at Natwange bar, construction of the swimming pool at the council guest house, purchase of a back hoe loader, purchase of a block making machine and installation of the internet facility among others.
