Mbala, October 16, 2019, ZANIS--- Government has strongly advised the people of Mbala to stop buying fresh fish from Lake Chila following an outbreak of diseases.

Mbala District Commissioner Kedrick Sikombe explains that this is because the fish in the lake is dying on its own from unknown diseases.

Mr Sikombe says it is therefore important that people in the area stop buying and eating of fish from the lake until research is carried out to determine what is killing the fish.

ZANIS reports that the District Commissioner said this during the District Development Coordinating Committee (DDCC) meeting held at the Council Chamber yesterday.

He explained that it would be in the interest of everyone to temporarily suspend buying of fish form from the lake until further notice.

Meanwhile, Mr Sikombe has encouraged government workers and the general public to attend the National Day of Prayer, Fasting, Repentance and Reconciliation, which is set for Friday 18, October, 2019.

He said the community in the area should also attend the country's 55th Independence Day commemorations.
