Mbala June 17, 2019, ZANIS---Chief Zombe of the Mambwe speaking people in Mbala District has called for the development of the Kalambo Falls if the potential of the tourist site is to be fully realized.

The traditional leader has told ZANIS in an interview that there is need to develop the area around the falls adding that the move will create jobs for the locals.

He explained that putting up infrastructure at the falls will also boost revenue collection in the district.

The traditional leader observed that the current accommodation infrastructure at the falls is not sufficient to carter for tourists.

Meanwhile, Chief Zombe has asked government to quickly work on the road network leading to the Zombe-Kasesha border.

He said the rehabilitation of the road in the area will open trade links between Zambia and Tanzania.

The traditional leader said currently farmers are spending long hours on the road to move produce to the markets due to the deplorable state of the road.

He has advised government to expedite plans to work on the said road.
