Chienge, August 23, 2019, ZANIS---The National Registration, Passports and Citizenship (NRPC) Department in Chienge District has urged residents to acquire birth certificates for their children.

Chienge District Registrar, Vernon Mweshi said the printing of certificates has now been decentralized from Lusaka to all provincial centres hence people should take advantage and register their children.

ZANIS reports that Mr Mweshi said this during a sensitization exercise during the commemoration of the National HIV/Testing, Counseling and Treatment held at Lupiya Primary School.

He stated that his office is currently issuing National Registration Cards to Zambians who have attained 16 years of age and parents are able to produce an under five card or a Grade seven certificate.

Mr Mweshi explained that the use of under five cards and grade seven certificates to obtain NRCs will soon come to an end because only Birth Registration Certificates will be accepted.

Parents wishing to acquire birth certificates for their children are advised to visit the District National Registration, Passports and Citizenship Offices across the country.
