Kasama June 13, 2019, ZANIS-----The Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC) in Northern Province says it will soon begin the disbursement of funds aimed at financing the cassava Value Chain Project.

Provincial Coordinator Kacha Mutenda says beneficiaries have signed the loan agreement forms and have since undergone training in processing as part of the requirement for loan acquisition.

Mr Mutenda explained that K3 million has been set aside to finance 22 projects in selected districts in four provinces and Kasama is one of the benefiting district in Northern Province.

He expressed optimism that the cassava value chain project will lead to rural industrialisation and job creation in Kasama district, adding that this forms part of government’s agenda of developing rural areas.

Mr Mutenda further said the construction of a CEEC Industrial yard in Kasama District with the objective to provide the needed support to Cassava Value Chain project is processing well.

Last year, the Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC) approved 22 cassava value chain projects worth K3 million for financing in four provinces namely Northern, Northern-Western, Copperbelt and Lusaka provinces respectively.
