Mpongwe, June 18, 2019, ZANIS-------Mpongwe District Commissioner Keith Maila has commended the Catholic Church for its numerous social and economic development projects in the area.

Mr Maila says the presence of the Catholic Church in Mpongwe has been of great benefit to locals in the district.

He stated that the numerous Catholic Church driven programmes in the district demonstrate the church’s commitment in partnering with government for economic development.

Mr Maila was speaking during the 2019 celebration of St Anthony of Padua held at St Anthony mission in Mpongwe earlier.

Meanwhile, Mr Maila noted that the establishment of 23 centres at St Anthony Mission has seen developmental projects such as the establishment of Tolbit Secondary School and St Anthony Rural Health Centre.

He further disclosed that the mission has set up boreholes, hammer mills and poultry farming activities which are of great benefit to the local community.
