A 60 YEAR old man of Ntindi village in Nakonde District of Muchinga Province yesterday pleaded not guilty in the Nakonde Magistrate court to defiling a girl below the age of 16. Appearing before Magistrate Johnston Lukwesa for plea was Andrew Siame a peasant farmer. Magistrate Lukwesa however recorded a plea of not guilty from Siame and has since set June 15th for commencement of trial while the accused is remanded in custody.

 Particulars of the offence were that on dates unknown but between 1st and 20th May 2015, Siame allegedly did have carnal knowledge of a girl under the age of 16 contrary to section 138 as amended by Act No 2 of 2011 chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia.

Meanwhile a 32 year old bus driver of Jarazu bus services has been fined k1500 by the Nakonde Magistrate court for dangerous driving contrary to section 155(1) of the roads and traffic Act No 11 of 2002 of the laws of Zambia.

Appearing before Magistrate Joshua Sikazwe for Judgement was Frank Chirwa of Garden house Compound. Particulars of the offence were that on 26th May 2015, in Nakonde District of Muchinga Province, Chirwa did drive a motor vehicle namely Marco polo in a dangerous manner. In mitigation, Chirwa said he was a married man with 3 children and 4 dependants who he was sponsoring to school.

Magistrate Sikazwe however said he had heard what Chirwa had said in mitigation adding that the offence committed was a serious to go unpunished. Magistrate Sikazwe then fined Chirwa a K 1500 payable by 3 June in default faces 9 months simple imprisonment.
